ALGIERS -- French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday arrived in Algeria for a three-day visit aimed at easing the strained ties and boosting cooperation.

DAMASCUS -- A U.S. helicopter gunship fired at the positions of pro-Iran militias in Syria's eastern province of Deir al-Zour on Thursday, a war monitor reported.

ANKARA -- Türkiye said on Thursday that Greek warplanes "harassed" its jets again during a NATO mission over the Aegean Sea, the second such act in three days, the semi-official Anadolu Agency reported.

TEHRAN -- The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) on Thursday unveiled the country's first multi-purpose gamma radiation system in the northwestern city of Bonab.

The project of designing and building a portable gamma system for radiating food was launched in January 2022 and became ready for operation in August, Mohammad Eslami, the head of AEOI, was quoted by the Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA) as saying at the unveiling ceremony.
