BEIJING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.27 percent to 3,108.91 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.84 percent lower at 11,114.43 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 638.45 billion yuan (91.47 billion U.S. dollars), up from 635.96 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the sectors of coal and the military industry led the gains, while those related to tourism and automobiles suffered the biggest losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.52 percent to close at 2,319.42 points Thursday. Enditem
