1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Friday

BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.66 percent to 3,088.37 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.97 percent lower at 11,006.41 points.

Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 667.6 billion yuan (95.48 billion U.S. dollars), up from 638.45 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Stocks related to kitchen and bathroom appliances as well as banking sectors led the gains, while those in titanium dioxide and automobile chips suffered losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.67 percent to close at 2,303.91 points. Enditem
