BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Shenzhen FC will take every game of their remaining season as a final in their efforts to stave off relegation, said caretaker coach Zhang Xiaorui.
The Shenzhen side, with only three points above the relegation zone, is in a far from ideal condition to face Shanghai Shenhua on Sunday, Zhang revealed.
"We played five games in 20 days, and as we don't have a fixed home venue for the time being, we have been always on the road. The players are rather tired," he said.
"During this period we flew about 12,000 kilometers. So our preparations (for the next game) are mainly about recovery and rest," he said.
Despite the difficulties, the Shenzhen players are in good spirits under the guidance of Shen Xiangfu, who is running the team in the name of club technical director, according to Zhang.
"We are aware of the situation we are in. Mr. Shen also asked us to take every game as a final, to fight hard with every opponent and seize any chance to score," he said.
Shen, 65, has been asked to head a newly formed coaching group after a poor run of five straight defeats in the Chinese Super League (CSL) led to the sacking of South Korean Lee Jang-soo as the head coach in early September.
With him at the helm, Shenzhen won once, drew once and lost twice. Enditem
