DALIAN, China, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Port defeated Dalian Pro 2-1 to climb to third of the table, while relegation-threatened Guangzhou FC had a 3-3 thriller with Cangzhou Mighty Lions in the 23rd round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Friday.

Shanghai opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Wu Lei netted home an accurate cross from Cai Huikang for his seventh goal in six matches after returning from La Liga side Espanyol.

Cesar Manzoki tapped in a free kick by Cui Ming'an and helped Dalian level the score in the 50th minute. Shanghai players created several chances thereafter but were unable to beat Dalian keeper Kudirat Ablet until Feng Jin curled the ball right into the net to seal the victory for Shanghai in the 78th minute.

After the win, Shanghai Port climbed to third of the table with 43 points, beating local rival Shanghai Shenhua to fourth with a one-point advantage.

Second to bottom Guangzhou had a rollercoaster 3-3 draw with Cangzhou, trailing from 0-2 down to turn the table around 3-2 thanks to Yang Liyu's brace. However, Cangzhou defender Piao Shihao's goal, assisted by Deabeas Owusu in the 58th minute, dashed Guangzhou's hope of taking home three points.

The draw marked Guangzhou's 10th game without a victory, and they had to stay in the relegation zone while Cangzhou surpassed Dalian to sit in 13th place.

Also on Friday, defender Kang Sang-woo converted a late penalty to lead Beijing Guoan past Henan Songshan Longmen 2-1, and Wuhan Yangtze held Meizhou Hakka to a goalless draw. Enditem
