1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Thursday

BEIJING, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.25 percent to 3,089.31 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.15 percent lower at 10,956.68 points.

The turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 748.1 billion yuan (about 105.1 billion U.S. dollars), down from 830.48 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Shares in the textile machinery and electronic appliance sectors led the gains, while stocks related to media and entertainment, and the liquor-making industry posted the biggest declines.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.21 percent to close at 2,335.52 points Thursday. Enditem
