BEIJING, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

SMART RANCH

A group of Chinese scientists proposed a zero-energy smart ranch with wearable sensors entirely powered by cattle's movements.

The study published on Friday in the journal iScience described smart devices on cows that capture the kinetic energy created by even their smallest movements and then use it to power the ranch.

The researchers at Southwest Jiaotong University mounted small sensory devices around cows' ankles and necks to recover animal kinetic energy and store it in supercapacitors or lithium batteries through a rectifier.

METEOROLOGICAL SATELLITES

Two meteorological satellites, along with their ground application systems, have officially started operation, said the China Meteorological Administration on Thursday.

The trial operation of the two satellites, Fengyun-3E (FY-3E) and Fengyun-4B (FY-4B), began in June this year. They will provide observation data and application services to global users.

ULTRACOLD GAS

A group of Chinese scientists created, for the first time in the world, a dense, ultracold gas of triple-atomic molecules, making an experimental milestone that offers multiple research opportunities for quantum chemistry.

The study published on Friday in the journal Science reported the creation of an ultracold gas from a mixture of ground-state sodium-potassium molecules and potassium atoms. Enditem
