Renowned Chinese economist, educator Li Yining dies

BEIJING, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Li Yining, renowned Chinese economist and educator, an excellent former leader of the China Democratic League and an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), died of illness on Feb. 27 in Beijing at the age of 92.

Li was a former member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and served as a former member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee.

Li was also former vice chairman of the China Democratic League, and a senior professor of philosophy and social sciences and honorary dean of the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University.

When Li was seriously ill and after his passing, leaders of the CPC Central Committee had expressed their sympathies and condolences through various ways.

Born in Nanjing in east China's Jiangsu Province in November 1930, Li was a significant trailblazer concerning theories on China's socialist market economy and a strong champion of the country's economic reforms. Enditem
