BEIJING, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

TIANZHOU-5

China's Tianzhou-5 cargo craft, tasked with supporting the Shenzhou-15 crewed space mission, separated from the orbiting space station combination at 3:26 p.m. Friday (Beijing Time) and switched to independent flight, the China Manned Space Agency said.

China launched the Tianzhou-5 on Nov. 12, 2022 from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in the southern province of Hainan. It was loaded with six months of supplies for three Shenzhou-15 taikonauts, propellant and experiment facilities.

BCI EXPERIMENT

World's first interventional brain-computer interface (BCI) experiment on non-human primates was successfully completed on Thursday, by a research team led by scientists with Nankai University.

Through building a BCI to the monkey's brain, scientists successfully identified and collected electroencephalography signals which achieved control over a mechanical arm.

HIGH-TECH MANUFACTURING

Heilongjiang Province, an old industrial base in northeast China, has seen rapid development in high-tech manufacturing, thanks to its focus on innovation and new technologies.

The added value of the high-tech manufacturing industry in Heilongjiang grew by 24.6 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2023, said the provincial statistical bureau.

The output of high-tech manufacturing products such as industrial robots and proprietary Chinese medicines surged by 520 percent and 63.7 percent year on year in the same period, respectively. Enditem
