BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Recently, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to visit China's Tibet Autonomous Region. It was one of the most fascinating and amazing experiences for me to experiment with the life of the plateau region and to enjoy its unique sceneries, cultures, and traditions.

In Tibet, I witnessed people's strong commitment to accelerate their efforts in the promotion of high-quality development through more work, conservation of the ecology, and their maintenance of peace and stability to consolidate the achievements made so far in poverty alleviation toward a united, prosperous, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful Tibet.

In fact, the region has gained vitality and is going through a tremendous transformation and development.

Tibet has made comprehensive progress and historic achievements in its various undertakings to fight poverty and create better conditions for all people without discriminating against any specific ethnic group.

In the past decades, the region was characterized by deep impoverishment in rural villages, where people were struggling for their survival due to severe poverty, illiteracy, harsh natural environment, weak infrastructure, and illnesses.

Today, Tibet is a dynamic place. The agriculture and livestock sectors, green industry, clean energy, and modern services are flourishing. The region now has well-connected transportation infrastructures such as bullet trains, roads linking every village, flights connecting the region with the rest of the country and world, and advanced telecommunications systems, including 5G internet.

Nowadays, people in Tibet are living in much better conditions and their traditions, culture, language, religion, and beliefs are being preserved and respected. All of these have been possible due to sound policies, hard work, and national joint efforts. People living in inhospitable mountainous and remote areas have been lifted out of poverty, relocated to new homes in valley townships, and embarked on new lives.

Nevertheless, the region is still faced with some challenges. The central and local governments alongside its people are working hard to address these challenges toward common development and prosperity for all.

In this context, one can conclude that strong leadership, proper planning, firm commitment, hard work, constant reviews, and the use of science and technology can reduce poverty and bring about high-quality development and progress.

Tibet's miracle is part of China's remarkable progress in rural development, due to the arduous efforts of the Chinese government and its people, particularly the Communist Party of China whose leadership, vision, and determination led to poverty alleviation and development countrywide. In particular, the philosophy of inclusiveness is pursued in all endeavors for rural development, which underlines that each region develops based on its conditions and emphasizes the protection and preservation of local cultures. This approach promotes people's initiative and creativity at the local level and allows communities to be the main actors and beneficiaries.

China is advancing modernization through high-quality development. This will further enhance the achievements attained so far and contribute to the development of a new paradigm based on the promotion of high standards of living in all corners of the country, including the rural areas.

Considering the natural conditions of Tibet, high-quality development will also require continuous surveys and the use of science and technology as one of the key factors to enhance human knowledge of its mountainous nature and boost scientific advancement.

In fact, technology constitutes a valuable instrument for adaptation, transformation, and solutions for diverse kinds of challenges, particularly in increasing efficiency and resilience. Likewise, the continuation of the national support program for the consolidation of the achievements made on the poverty alleviation and development programs is also of paramount importance. In this process, human resource continues to be a catalyst and plays a crucial role as the fundamental instrument to empower people, especially women and children, through training and expansion of economic opportunities.

Certainly, the achievements attained so far in Tibet indicate that the region is on the right path of development, progress, unity, and stability. It is important to put the people at the center by enhancing their ability to develop themselves, and promoting and protecting the rights of ethnic minority communities.

Poverty eradication is not only a task of a certain country or region but a global challenge that requires global efforts. The practical experience of China in poverty alleviation and rural development in Tibet proved that effective and holistic planning is needed to realize poverty reduction. China's success in alleviating rural poverty and striving toward rural revitalization through leveraging technology-led farming methods and the promotion of the construction of digital villages, among others, constitute a source of inspiration and valuable guidance for developing countries, like Mozambique.

To fight against poverty and promote sustainable development, the African continent still has a long way to go. In this context, our countries value their cooperation with China, in view to learn and benefit from its rich experiences in this area.

Mozambique as a strategic partner of China is looking forward to consolidating, deepening, and expanding their cooperation in all spheres, including the fight against poverty, the impact of climate change and conflicts, and promoting peace and sustainable development globally.
