BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.11 percent to 3,201.26 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.22 percent lower at 10,896.58 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 856.9 billion yuan (about 121.5 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 800.4 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks in the sectors of fuel gas and electricity led the gains, while those related to media and mobile games suffered the biggest losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.05 percent to close at 2,244.18 points on Thursday. Enditem
