LOS ANGELES, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Ryan Crouser of the United States improved his own world shot put record with a massive 23.56-meter throw at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting, here on Saturday.

The 30-year-old two-time Olympic champion achieved his winning mark from his fourth attempt. He also produced two over-23m and three over-22.80m throws en route to wrapping up the overwhelming victory.

Olympic bronze medallist Tom Walsh of New Zealand finished second at 22.12m, followed by USA's Payton Otterdahl with a personal best of 21.99m.

Crouser's previous best outdoor performance is 23.37m when he broke the world record for the first time at the US Olympic Trials in Eugene in June 2021. He then achieved 23.38m for an outright men's world shot put record in an indoor event in Idaho this February. Enditem
