XI'AN, China, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopia's Gelaye Atinkut Kassahun won Saturday's Binzhou Half Marathon in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, clocking one hour, five minutes and 14 seconds.

Mayakaevans Nyakamba of Kenya was second, just four seconds behind. China's Shao Sishuang rounded out the podium after finishing the 21km competition in 1:06:32.

Kenya's Maureen Kiprono won the women's event in 1:17:16. Chinese runners Zhu Bingying and Wang Qiaoxia took silver and bronze medals respectively.

The Binzhou Half Marathon was first held in 2014, with its 2023 edition featuring over 4,500 runners competing over half marathon and 5km distances.

"Although it was raining during the race, many local people kept cheering us on. The atmosphere here is very nice," runner Zhu Yaru told Xinhua.

"We had a good experience. I'd like to visit Binzhou again," Zhu added. Enditem
