CHENGDU, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- China's gymnast Ou Yushan claimed the women's all-around title while her compatriot Luo Huan took the silver at the Chengdu Universiade here on Friday.

China's 19-year-old Ou of Beijing Sport University grabbed the gold by collecting a total of 54.498 points, while the 23-year-old Luo from Wuhan Sports University took the silver with 53.765 points. Japan's Ayaka Sakaguchi took the bronze with 53.165 points.

As China's strongest competitors, Sakaguchi and her compatriot Shoko Miyata ranked second and third in the qualification. The Japanese gymnasts topped in the first rotation of vault due to their most difficult routines. But the Chinese gymnasts catched up with dominance in rotations of uneven bars and balance beam, and kept leading to the end. Miyata withdrew in the last rotation of floor exercise for her foot injury.

"It's so wonderful to win at home, we're glad to give stable performances and had a really enjoyable time today," said Ou.

The individual apparatus finals will begin on Saturday with 10 golds to be contested. Enditem
