Slackliners compete at altitude of over 1,000 meters in central China

CHANGSHA, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Twelve elite slackline walkers competed in central China's Zhangjiajie city at an astounding altitude of 1,092 meters. Benoit Humm of France clinched the title on Tuesday.
Competitors from China, France, Spain, and other countries and regions were pitted against each other and had to walk on a 120-meter-long, 2.5-centimeter-wide and 2-millimeter-thick slackline, which was slung between two mountains in the Huangshizhai scenic spot in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. The distance covered and the number of turnovers made were the criteria for judging.
"Even though I've done slackline races all around the world, this one tops them all. The visual impact is too great, and the atmosphere is very exhilarating, because you're walking between individual pieces of mountain," said Humm. Enditem
