NEW DELHI -- At least eight persons were killed and many others injured after a bus carrying nearly 60 passengers fell into a deep gorge in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu, local police said Sunday.

The mishap occurred in the state's Nilgiris district late on Saturday night, when the bus lost control while navigating the hairpin bend roads, a local policeman confirmed with Xinhua. (India-Road Accident)

HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government held a flag-raising ceremony and a reception Sunday to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodian authorities had arrested 14,722 drug-related suspects, including 331 foreigners, during the first nine months of 2023, the country's Anti-Drug Department said in a report on Sunday.

Some 51 percent of the suspects were drug traffickers, manufacturers and transporters, while the rest were drug users, the report said. (Cambodia-Narcotics)
