BEIJING, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China:

CHANG'E-8 LUNAR PROBE MISSION

The China National Space Administration (CNSA) is offering opportunities for international cooperation on payloads that will piggyback on the country's Chang'e-8 lunar exploration mission, slated for launch around 2028.

The Chang'e-8 mission is open to all countries and international organizations for collaboration at either mission, system or single-machine levels in order to encourage more major original discoveries, according to a CNSA release on Monday.

NEW FAINT PULSARS

Using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), or the "China Sky Eye," Chinese scientists have discovered 76 new faint and occasionally emitting pulsars, including a group of the faintest pulsars known today.

These pulsars are very special in that they only occasionally radiate a pulse in many rotation periods, so that they are known as rotating radio transient sources (RRATs), said the study, which was published on Monday in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics Research.

RISK OF BRAIN DISORDERS

A recent study has revealed that lower levels of warmth, diligence, sociability and curiosity, and a higher level of nervousness, are linked to increased risk of brain disorders.

The study, published in the journal Nature Mental Health, was jointly conducted by an international team of researchers from multiple institutes, including Shanghai-based Huashan Hospital of Fudan University, University of Oxford and University of Cambridge. Enditem
