WETLAND MAP
Chinese researchers recently produced a high resolution wetland map of East Asia, shedding new light on wetland conservation and sustainable development.
The study has been published in the journal Remote Sensing of Environment.
In this study, the researchers developed a novel two-stage classification for continental-scale wetland mapping and generated the first and up-to-date 10-meter-resolution wetland map of East Asia.
METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATION STATIONS
A Chinese expedition team reached the peak of Mount Cho Oyu, also known as Mt. Qowowuyag, and set up an automatic weather station atop this mountain for the first time.
The establishment of the weather station is aimed at revealing more about the characteristics of climate change in this extremely high-altitude region.
INNOVATIVE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
The Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway, which links Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and Bandung, a famous tourist city, officially opened on Monday.
As a landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative and cooperation between China and Indonesia, it shortens the train trip between Jakarta and Bandung from more than three hours to about 40 minutes via this new 142.3-km line.
The international sci-tech cooperation project "Research and Pilot Application of Mobile Communication Network Theory and Technology for High-speed Railways in Indonesia" was jointly carried out. Enditem
