BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China:

SHENZHOU-17 MISSION

The Shenzhou-17 crewed spaceship is scheduled to be launched at 11:14 a.m. Thursday (Beijing Time) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China, the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) announced on Wednesday.

The spaceship will carry three astronauts -- Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie, and Jiang Xinlin -- to carry out the Shenzhou-17 spaceflight mission. Tang Hongbo will be the commander, said Lin Xiqiang, deputy director of the CMSA, at a press conference.

Shenzhou-17 is the 30th flight mission of China's manned space program, and the 12th manned mission of the program.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

China is able and ready to invite foreign astronauts to participate in China's space station flight missions, announced Lin Xiqiang at the press conference on Wednesday.

"We extend an invitation to the world and welcome all countries and regions committed to the peaceful use of outer space to cooperate with us and participate in the Chinese space station missions," said Lin.

Lin also vowed to include foreign astronauts in the country's moon-landing mission once the necessary conditions are met.

CONDENSED MATTER PHYSICS

Chinese scientist Xue Qikun has won the 2024 Oliver E. Buckley Condensed Matter Physics Prize, an international award that recognizes outstanding contributions to condensed matter physics, according to the American Physical Society.

Xue, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Ashvin Vishwanath, a professor at Harvard University, won the award together for their pioneering theoretical and experimental studies on the collective electronic properties of materials that reflect topological aspects of their band structure.
