BEIJING, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China:

AI COMPUTING POWER

China's scale of intelligent computing power reached 260 EFLOPS last year and is expected to reach 1,117 EFLOPS in 2027, realizing a compound annual growth rate of 33.9 percent, according to a recent industry report.

The evaluation report on the development of artificial intelligence (AI) computing power in China for 2023-2024 was released during the 2023 AI Computing Conference, which was held in Beijing on Wednesday.

The market size of global AI servers is projected to increase from 19.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2022 to 34.7 billion U.S. dollars in 2026, according to the report co-published by the International Data Corporation (IDC) and Inspur Electronic Information Industry Co., Ltd.

NEW ORCHID SPECIES

Scientists have found a new rare orchid species, called Kuhlhasseltia motuoensis, in Medog County, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.

The plants were found by an orchid survey team along the Yarlung Zangbo River in Medog in August 2023, according to the county's forestry and grassland bureau.

TOMBS AND WELL RUINS

Forty tombs, some stilt-style buildings, and wells, dating back to about 4,500 years to 5,500 years ago, have been recently found in Changzhou City, east China's Jiangsu Province.

The ruins, with multiple relics, including pottery, jadeware, and stoneware, were discovered at the Sidun Site in today's Tianning District of Changzhou.

The site is centered on an oval mound, surrounded by more than 10 small flat foundations and moated by dual water systems. According to the Nanjing Museum, the total area is about 1.5 million square meters. Enditem
