1st LD: China's CPI down 0.5 pct in November

BEIJING, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, edged down 0.5 percent year on year in November, official data showed Saturday.

On a monthly basis, the CPI also dipped 0.5 percent from the previous month, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

However, the average CPI from January to November increased 0.3 percent year on year, the NBS data showed.

In November, food prices went down 4.2 percent year on year while non-food prices went up 0.4 percent. On a month-on-month basis, food prices in November went down 0.9 percent while non-food prices fell 0.4 percent, the data showed. Enditem
