BEIJING, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China:

IMMUNE CELLS

A team of Chinese and Singaporean scientists have determined that a type of common immune cell could become an accomplice aiding cancer, and therefore it might be useful to target it in a potential anti-cancer therapy.

Neutrophils, the most abundant white blood cell population in the body and which serve as first responders to infection and injury and also tend to gather around tumors, are shown to support tumor growth, according to the study published in the journal Science.

DRONES

For a drone with four propellers, also known as a quadcopter, the failure of one motor is a big problem. With only three rotors working, the drone loses stability and inevitably crashes unless an emergency control strategy sets in.

Researchers at Beihang University, specializing in aeronautical and astronautical research, have now found a solution to this problem: They designed an algorithm to stabilize the drone and keep it flying autonomously after one, two or even three rotors suddenly give out.

ASIAN MONSOON

A recent study has revealed that an intense Asian summer monsoon played a key role in the migration of humans from Africa to East Asia about 120,000 to 70,000 years ago.

The study, conducted by researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Earth Environment and researchers in the Republic of Korea, Spain and the U.K., was published in U.S. journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences this week. Enditem
