BEIJING, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

BIOLOGICAL BREEDING

China has boosted its biological breeding industry through scientific and technological methods, contributing greatly to the country's steady supply of grain and other major agricultural products.

In recent years, China has solidly pushed forward its seed industry revitalization, and has achieved a number of breakthroughs.

LIGHT POLLUTION

Chinese scientists have turned to the earth science satellite SDGSAT-1 as a tool to manage the impact of modern illumination sources on the urban environment.

The study, conducted by scientists from the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was published recently in the International Journal of Digital Earth.

MOGAO GROTTOES PROTECTION

With the advent of 3D laser scanning technology, data acquisition efficiency at Mogao Grottoes has been significantly enhanced in recent years, with image accuracy improving from 75 dots per inch (DPI) to 300 DPI. Experts can now take pictures of 20 to 30 caves each year, compared with only one or two caves annually earlier.

By the end of 2022, the Dunhuang Academy had completed the digital photography collection of 289 caves, along with the 3D reconstruction of 45 colored sculptures and 140 caves. Enditem
