BEIJING, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

AC313A HELICOPTER

China's homegrown AC313A large civil helicopter has completed its first round of cold-weather flight tests, according to the Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

The AC313A recently conducted and completed its first cold-weather flight test mission at an airport in Mohe, China's northernmost city.

During this round of flight tests, this large helicopter's conducted multiple flight-test to verify its flight performance in hovering, climbing, level flight and other flight movements, as well as the performance of its major systems and engines in cold environments.

CLEAN ENERGY CORRIDOR

The world's largest clean energy corridor, consisting of six mega hydropower stations on China's Yangtze River, generated more electricity in 2023, according to the operator of these stations.

The corridor produced over 276 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity last year, up 5.34 percent year on year, data from China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd. showed.

This was equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by around 83 million tonnes and lowering carbon dioxide emissions by more than 200 million tonnes.

COGNITIVE RECOVERY AFTER STROKE

A study conducted in China has shown that the herb extracted from the dried leaves and seeds of the ginkgo tree could improve early cognitive recovery after stroke.

The researchers, led by those from the Beijing Tiantan Hospital, have found in a multi-center clinical trial in China that people with clot-caused stroke had better early recovery of cognitive functions if treated with intravenous injections of a combination of biologically active components of Ginkgo biloba during the first two weeks after the stroke.
