BEIJING, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Yuning scored in his 100th Chinese Super League (CSL) game as Beijing Guoan eased past Cangzhou Mighty Lions 2-0 in its opening game of the 2024 CSL season on Saturday.

With new signings Guga, Mamadou Traore and China international Lin Liangming all starting at the Cangzhou Stadium, Guoan controlled possession from the beginning and broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when Zhang tapped in a low-cross from Wang Gang.

Guoan goalkeeper Hou Sen made multiple saves in the second half to keep a clean sheet before Yang Liyu scored a penalty to make it 2-0 in the injury time.

Guoan will continue on the road to face Shandong Taishan and Wuhan Three Towns, before taking on defending champion Shanghai Port at home in the fourth round.

Elsewhere, Brazilian midfielder Andrigo put Chengdu Rongcheng ahead in the match against Qingdao Hainiu in the 30th minute with a strike from outside the box. Li Yang came off the bench to add another one minute from time in his Chengdu debut.

In the only other fixture of the day, Tianjin Jinmen Tiger was held to a 1-1 home draw by Nantong Zhiyun. Enditem
