CHENGDU, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Firefighting crews are still working to extinguish some burning sections after two forest fires broke out in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garze, southwest China's Sichuan Province.

As of Monday noon, the open flames of a forest fire stretching 12 km in Kangding, a county-level city in Garze, had been put out, said the local headquarters of forest and grassland fire prevention and control.

Another fire, also in Garze, has caused three major burning sections in Yajiang County. As of Monday noon, one of the three main branches of the fire had been extinguished thanks to the vigorous efforts of over 2,400 workers, with more efforts underway to put out other burning sections. Enditem
