BEIJING, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.72 percent to 3,062.76 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.58 percent lower at 9,696.69 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices totaled 1.08 trillion yuan (about 152.14 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.14 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in sectors such as animal husbandry, 6G and coal led the gains, while shares in the securities, insurance and anthropomorphic robot sectors suffered the biggest losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.01 percent to close at 1,906.94 points on Tuesday. Enditem
