ISLAMABAD -- The Pakistani law enforcement agencies have successfully repulsed a terrorist attack on a government building in the country's southwest Gwadar district of Balochistan province on Wednesday, killing eight armed terrorists, officials said.
A group of terrorists, armed with grenades and automatic rifles, attempted to storm the Gwadar Port Authority office building, which houses several crucial offices as well as facilities for law enforcers and staff residences, Gwadar Senior Superintendent of Police Zohaib Mohsin told Xinhua. HANOI -- Vietnam's Communist Party Central Committee on Wednesday accepted the resignation of President Vo Van Thuong upon his personal request, Vietnam News Agency reported.

CANBERRA -- Differences and disagreements should not define the Australia-China relations, and both countries should seek common interests as far as possible, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Wednesday.
Albanese made the statement while meeting with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Canberra. Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, is currently on a tour from March 17 to 21 for an official visit to New Zealand and to Australia. HONG KONG -- The Commissioner's Office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Wednesday expressed strong disapproval of and firm objection to the Council of the European Union (EU) for attacking and smearing the HKSAR's Safeguarding National Security Ordinance.
