BEIJING, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.95 percent to 3,048.03 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.21 percent lower at 9,565.56 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices topped 1.09 trillion yuan (about 153.51 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.07 trillion yuan on the previous trading day and exceeding one trillion yuan for five trading days in a row.
Shares related to film and TV production as well as media and publishing led the gains, while agriculture and non-ferrous metal mining industries led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.47 percent to close at 1,869.17 points Friday. Enditem
