XIAMEN, China, March 22 (Xinhua) -- 2024 Sunpadow International RC On-Road Grand Prix kicked off on Friday in Xiamen, a coastal city in southeast China's Fujian Province.

The competition consists of four programs, the 1/8 GP on-road race, 1/8 EP on-road race, 1/10 TC modified race and 1/10 TC stock race, with a prize of 150,000 yuan (about 21,115 U.S. dollars). More than 300 contestants from Asia, Europe and North America joined the competition.

Bruno Coelhos, a Portuguese RC driver with many championships, said that he had joined competitions in Xiamen three times.

"These races are very special for me because Sunpadow is one of my main sponsors of batteries. The race is super nice, well organized and the facilities are amazing. I feel honored and apt to be here," said Coelho.

Coelho said that China's RC racing developed quickly in recent years, with higher competitions and famous RC companies emerging.

"China is one of the biggest economies in our sport. My batteries, speed controls and motors are all from Chinese companies. They are growing and growing and at the moment they are the best in the world," said Coelho.

Jeffrey Hamon, a RC driver from Australia, said that China contributes not only a lot on brands to RC market, but also lots of good players.

"When I come to competitions, I am happy to see new Chinese contestants be faster and faster. Some Chinese contestants are getting close to the top level, especially in the electric region," said Hamon. Enditem
