WUHAN, March 22 (Xinhua) -- The Guangdong Southern Tigers downed the Jiangsu Dragons 94-87 to extend its winning streak to seven games, while the Xinjiang Flying Tigers crushed the Shanghai Sharks 119-106 in the 46th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League on Friday.

Guangdong took a slight advantage of five points in the first half, and was once surpassed by Jiangsu in the third quarter. Tremont Waters grabbed 16 points in the last quarter to help Guangdong continue their unbeaten streak. With the victory, Guangdong surpassed Zhejiang to rank 4th in the standings.

"Our players were slack in defense and attack in the beginning. They took the enemy lightly and made 13 mistakes in the first half," said Du Feng, head coach of Guangdong, adding that he kept reminding the players to stay focused. "We shouldn't feel relaxed just because the team is in good morale. There is a long way to go for the season, and we have to keep fighting."

Elsewhere, Xinjiang started the game against Shanghai aggressively, downing the guests with double digits respectively in the first two quarters. Although, Shanghai made a 32-18 run in the third quarter to cut the deficit to nine points, Xinjiang adjusted their strategies quickly, and nailed down the victory. As of now, Xinjiang has faced Shanghai three times in the season, and bagged all victories.

Qi Lin had 29 points and Abudushalama Abudurexiti contributed 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead Xinjiang on home soil. Shanghai's Dwayne Bacon scored 32 points and Wang Zhelin added 18 points as well as nine rebounds.

In the other games on Friday, Beijing Ducks stood out with 106-93 in the Beijing derby against the Royal Fighters, while Nanjing Monkey Kings defeated Shandong Heroes 116-110. Enditem
