BEIJING, March 26 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

LONG MARCH-8 ROCKET

A modified version of China's Long March-8 carrier rocket has completed a 5.2-meter-diameter fairing separation test and a new satellite-rocket joint operation test.

The rocket was developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology. The successful test represents a critical step in the rocket's development phase, as it prepares to enter its maiden flight test phase.

QUEQIAO-2

China's relay satellite Queqiao-2 has successfully performed the near-moon braking procedure and entered its circumlunar orbit, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) said on Monday.

After about 112 hours of flight, the satellite began to perform near-moon braking at a distance of about 440 km from the lunar surface at 12:46 a.m. (Beijing Time) on Monday and entered its circumlunar orbit smoothly 19 minutes later, said the CNSA.

ANTARCTIC SEA ICE PREDICTION

Chinese scientists made accurate predictions regarding Antarctic sea ice for December 2023 to February 2024 using deep learning methods.

The research team utilized a Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (ConvLSTM) neural network to construct a seasonal-scale Antarctic sea ice prediction model. Enditem
