BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.18 percent to 3,069.30 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.44 percent lower at 9,544.77 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices reached 917.9 billion yuan (about 129.4 billion U.S. dollars), down from 967.64 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to gold, as well as oil and gas exploitation, led the gains, while shares linked to Xiaomi new energy vehicles and AI-powered text-to-video generators saw broad declines.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.08 percent to close at 1,840.41 points on Wednesday. Enditem
