BEIJING, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.29 percent to 3,065.26 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.04 percent lower at 9,279.46 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices reached 860.3 billion yuan (about 121.17 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from the 949.6 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.

Shares related to construction and installation sector as well as waste resources utilization industry led the gains, while those in the special equipment manufacturing and housing construction suffered the heavy losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.76 percent to close at 1,756 points Friday. Enditem
