BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.27 percent to 3,052.9 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.14 percent higher at 9,264.48 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices reached 774.3 billion yuan (about 109 billion U.S. dollars), down from the 795.4 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.

Shares related to chemical materials, fertilizers, and airports led the gains, while those in the aerospace, culture and media, and telecommunications sectors saw broad declines.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.04 percent to close at 1,764.73 points. Enditem
