BEIJING, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The pursuit of Chinese modernization has changed the country, said a think tank report released Saturday in Paris.

The report, titled "Chinese Modernization: The Way Forward," was co-authored by New China Research, the think tank of Xinhua News Agency, and the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and is available in four languages including Chinese, English, French and Russian.

Under the leadership of the CPC, in just several decades, the Chinese people have completed the process of industrialization that took developed countries several centuries to complete, said the report.

China has scored widely recognized achievements in modernization and realized two miracles, namely the rapid economic growth and long-term social stability, the report said.

By the end of 2020, the 98.99 million rural residents living below the current poverty threshold, 832 poor counties, and 128,000 impoverished villages were all lifted out of poverty.

By reducing poverty, China has made an outstanding contribution to the world, accounting for over 70 percent of global poverty reduction, which marks a milestone in the development of human history, according to the report.

The country has achieved a historic leap in GDP while strengthening national security across the board, the report said.

Since the CPC's 18th National Congress, China's economy has achieved a historic rise, with GDP growing to 126 trillion yuan (18 trillion U.S. dollars) in 2023 from 53.9 trillion yuan in 2012.

Facing more severe domestic and international challenges, China has applied a holistic approach to national security and steadily improved the leadership, legal, strategy, and policy systems for national security, the report said.

Thanks to comprehensive measures and continued efforts, the whole of society has been mobilized to safeguard national security, and the people's line of defense has been consolidated to ensure security in all areas, according to the report. Enditem
