BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

SATELLITE LAUNCH

China sent a new satellite group into space on Tuesday from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi Province.

The Spacesail Constellation will provide global users with low-latency, high-speed and ultra-reliable satellite broadband internet services.

CARBON EMISSION

A Chinese research team has employed the country's Fengyun-3D satellite's global fire spot monitoring data to quantify global carbon emissions from open biomass burning (OBB) and develop a global high-resolution daily OBB emission inventory.

NOBEL LAUREATE

Chinese-American physicist Tsung-Dao Lee died Sunday in San Francisco, California, confirmed by the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and China Center for Advanced Science and Technology.

The 97-year-old Nobel laureate died at his home in San Francisco at 2:33 a.m. local time (0933 GMT) Sunday morning, according to a joint obituary released on Monday by the two organizations. Enditem
