HARBIN, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- The men's and women's snowboard halfpipe finals scheduled for Thursday have been canceled due to strong winds, with results from Wednesday's qualifying round to be used as the final standings at the Harbin Asian Winter Games.

Despite athletes and spectators arriving at the venue at the Yabuli Ski Resort, fierce winds and snow drifts abruptly hit the halfpipe course, forcing organizers to delay the start.

After multiple attempts to reschedule, the winds did not subside, and the event was ultimately called off.

The possibility of strong winds on Thursday had been anticipated, with organizers issuing a briefing on Tuesday evening, stating that the competition may be canceled and that scores from Wednesday's qualification rounds would serve as the official results.

In the women's event, Japan's Sara Shimizu was awarded gold with 98.00 points, followed by her compatriot Sena Tomita on 93.75 points. China's Wu Shaotong secured the bronze with 86.50 points.

In the men's competition, South Korea's Kim Geon-hui claimed gold with 78.00 points, while Japan's Koyata Kikuchihara took silver with 75.00 points. Kim's compatriot Lee Jio rounded out the podium on 69.75 points. Enditem
