DONGGUAN, China, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The Shanxi Brave Dragons completed a 3-0 sweep by beating the Guangdong Southern Tigers 124-106 in the quarterfinals of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Saturday.

An 18-3 run in the third quarter for Shanxi decided the game. Six Shanxi players scored in double figures, including Hamidou Diallo with 25 points. Troy Gillenwater scored a game-high 35 points for Guangdong.

Guangdong started the game with a 5-0 lead, before Diallo led Shanxi on a 12-0 run. Shanxi entered the second quarter with a 31-28 advantage.

The visiting team continued its momentum, increasing the gap to 10 points before Gillenwater led an 11-0 run for Guangdong to retake the lead. Guangdong held a slender 68-66 advantage at halftime.

After the break, Diallo led an 18-3 run for Shanxi, and the away team entered the fourth quarter with a 103-87 advantage. Gillenwater's performance gave Guangdong a slim chance to reverse the game, but their hope was dimmed after Xing Zhiqiang's 3-pointer gave Shanxi a 20-point lead with five minutes left.

"It was the last game of this season for us, we are all disappointed with the result," Guangdong's coach Du Feng said.

"But I believe our players already tried their best, we will train hard at this summer and make good preparation for next season." He added.

Elsewhere, the Beijing Ducks took a 2-1 lead by edging the Beijing Royal Fighters 105-102. Enditem
