1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Tuesday

BEIJING, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.82 percent to 3,934.09 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.4 percent lower at 14,259.44 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 2.32 trillion yuan (about 341.68 billion U.S. dollars), down from 2.52 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

The innovative drug, robotics and computing power leasing sectors led the gains, while non-ferrous metals recorded sharp declines.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.34 percent to close at 3,549.16 points.

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 1.12 percent lower at 1,989.77 points. Enditem
