Four workers died in a cave-in that occurred at a construction site in a city of central China's Hubei Province Monday afternoon.

Seven workers were fixing drainage pipelines underground at about 4:00 PM in the economic development zone of Yicheng when the cave-in took place, local workplace safety authorities said.

The channel was about five meters deep.

Five workers were dug out about an hour later, but two of them died. The other two were found dead by 7:00 PM.

The three survivors were out of danger, doctors said.
