Three Forest Fires Put out in Shanxi

Fire fighters have put out forest fires broke out last Wednesday at three spots in north China's Shanxi Province, the national forest-control headquarters under the State Forestry Administration (SFA) announced here on Sunday.

Fire fighters are cleaning and keeping a close watch on the fire sites in the counties of Wutai, Dingxiang and an area bordering Anze and Qinyuan Counties to prevent new fires, said Cao Qingyao, spokesman of the Administration.

The areas ravaged by the fire and economic losses caused by the fire are yet to be available, Cao said.

A short-out of high tension lines in a mine has led to the firein Wutai County, while the cause of the another two fires are still under investigation, said Cao,

In another development, more than 2,000 people are fighting against forest fire broke out on Thursday in Anning City in southwest China's Yunnan Province, said Cao.

The fire has not been brought under control yet and Zhu Lieke, a deputy head of the SFA, has arrived at the venue to direct fire-fighting.
