Eight people died and one was seriously injured after a three-wheeled motor vehicle they were riding in crashed with a truck in east China's Anhui Province on Sunday night, a county traffic police officer said on Monday.

The accident occurred at midnight when the truck struck the unregistered tricycle at a crossing in Feidong County.

The injured person was out of danger, the officer said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
