The Weifang international kite festival will kick off on April 21, in Weifang, Shandong Province. Teams and individuals from sixty seven countries and regions are participating in the event.

The ten-day festival will feature kite flying performances by over 10,000 people and shall host an international kite tournament.

Kite fliers from places of time honored kite flying tradition like France, Chile and New Zealand, have been attracted. World class kite flying teams from Hong Kong, Dalian and Tianjin are also taking part.

The festival focuses on four sectors including kiting, culture, tourism and investment.

Weifang is famous for its kiting culture and hailed as the 'kiting capital of the world'.
