2012年1月16日，李森林和袁辉途经南通开发区。寒假伊始，苏州大学机电工程学院大三学生李森林和他在常州读大学的高中同学袁辉相约，选择徒步回江苏盐城老家过年。两人于1月14日上午从苏州出发，开始400多公里的行程，经过7天的长途跋涉于1月20日晚抵达江苏盐城大丰市白驹镇。

Li, a junior student at the School for Mechanical and Electronic Engineering of Suzhou University, and his high school pal Yuan Hui, who attends a college in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, decided to meet up and walk home together. They are both from Baiju Town, Dafeng city in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. They started their homeward-bound journey in the early hours of Jan. 14.
