Dear Staff of Beijing Sanlian Taofen Bookstore:
From your letter I understand that you have recently launched a 24-hour bookstore to provide readers with a "place for late-night study". This is an ingenious idea and a lively example of "reading for all," demonstrating that inner strength and a quiet character are still needed in an ever-changing age. Reading makes one think and generate new ideas. The enthusiasm for reading and reading good books can not only improve one’s capability, vision, and overall quality, but also subtly shapes one’s character, helps one to maintain a peaceful state of mind and an aspiring mentality.
Reading not only concerns individual cultivation and the overall literacy of the nation, but also exerts a constant impact on the morality of society as a whole. I hope that you will turn the 24-hour bookstore into a spiritual landmark for the city, and allow this inextinguishable light to accompany late-night readers, lead the trend of reading, and help more people to draw strength from knowledge.
Li Keqiang
