Illegal storefronts bricked up for urban environment

编者按:从今年年初,北京开启大力整治“开墙破洞”门面,拆除违章建筑,疏解提升市场等一系列市容提升项目。

Editors' Note: China's capital Beijing is undergoing an aggressive urban environment project that includes tearing down unauthorized structures and illegal storefronts, renovating old communities and easing car-clogged streets and sidewalks.

位于北京市海淀区的三虎桥南路非法商铺占用公共空间严重,许多商家已经开始了限期搬迁和整改。据了解,该社区的搬迁和整改期限为7月20日。就在此前一天,中国网记者来到该社区,用照片和文字记录下了这一整治过程。(中国网 郭翊明、孙韬/文 孙韬/图)

On July 19, China.org.cn visited Sanhuqiao South Street, packed with various small mom-and-pop restaurants, barbershops, hardware stores and shoe repair outlets in Beijing's Haidian District, to gain an understanding of the renovation and cleanup process one day ahead of the deadline for the small vendors to close down.
