The Hengqin New Area has so far received 8,102 applications for trademarks, a 130 percent growth year on year, the Zhuhai Daily reported, citing the Administration for Industry & Commerce in the area.
Among the 8,102 applications, 2,891 of them have become effective trademarks, a 171 percent growth year on year. In the first half of this year alone, Hengqin issued 729 effective trademarks.
Hengqinis trying to build itself as a regional pilot zone for convenient trademark services.
On March 1, offices to accept registered trademarks were launched in Hengqin under the approval from the State Administration for Industry & Commerce. Since then, trademark application in Hengqin has increased rapidly.
