Ports constitute important economic activity in coastal city Putian
12月19日，大型运输机械在湄洲湾北岸东吴港区堆场运送煤炭。近年来，福建省莆田市充分利用沿海港口资源优势，大力发展港口经济，主动承接“海上丝绸之路”相关国家煤炭、铁矿石等大宗货物中转和运输业务，打造东南沿海大宗散货集散中心。截至2018年10月，全市共有千吨级以上泊位20个（其中万吨级以上泊位14个），港口吞吐能力达6266万吨，较“十二五”期末增长68%。[新华社 张国俊 摄]
