在海拔6500米的前进营地，高山厨师在准备菜品（5月10日摄）。珠穆朗玛峰前进营地是北坡攀登珠峰路线上重要的中间营地。前进营地地理位置独特，地处北坳下方海拔约6500米的一处狭长谷地，东面和西面均是海拔7000米以上的山峰，南面是珠峰北坳，仅在北面留出一个出入口。特殊的地理位置形成了前进营地气压低、空气稀薄的特点。登山队员初到前进营地时，经常会出现严重高原反应，因此又被称为“魔鬼营地”。[新华社记者 孙非 摄]
